NOTE: this course is scheduled to start on June 5, 2023 and will end on June 28, 2023 (Total 4 weeks and 8 classes) Monday and Wednesday at 3:45-4:30 PM Cost: $110 (tax included) This course is designed to introduced the athlete to basics of fencing: definitions and terms, games, moves, positions, rules, target work and some sparing. The intro course should not be taken more than once if attended in full. All new fencers graduated from the Intro course will be moving on and joining the beginners class. It is extremely recommended to combine group classes with weekly private lessons for the best and desired results. The modern Olympic sport requires fencers to be of the fittest of athletes and have levels of skills, which require many hours of dedicated training. In learning the skills of attacking and defending with the fencing weapon (foil in our case) fencers develop good coordination, balance and flexibility which makes fencing training an ideal means of keeping fit for all ages, sexes, and abilities. For the class: - Must bring personal water bottle - Must wear athletic attire (t-shirt, long pants, athletic shoes) NOTE: Please don't allow your kids to wear dresses, skirts, flip-flops, sandals, boots, heels or jeans to the class. - For long hair, please secure with hair tight/accessories to keep face and eyes open - Stay home if feel sick Registration and Make-up class policy: - Must register online and pay the invoice before coming to the class. - No make-ups are available for this class in general due to space limit. A student is expected to attend all the scheduled classes. However, under extreme and unique circumstances a makeup token maybe issued my a head coach. - No refunds will be issued. Fencing equipment: Fencing equipment is available to borrow in limited quantity and sizes. New students may borrow equipment to try fencing and get an idea of what it feels like. That will allow to try the sport before committing and spending money on equipment. After the trial period, fencers are expected to purchase their own set of equipment.
